What is Te Kohanga Reo o Ranana
The Kohanga Reo is a part of the wider group of Ngati Ranana. In particular Kohanga Reo provides an environment for pre-school children and their families to participate, learn and share in the Maori language.

"Living in London is great. It is a vibrant city with many diverse cultures.
Since having my son I have felt a real urge for him to know more about his Maori culture and heritage. Previously, in 1997, a group of Kiwi Mums and Dads shared a similar interest and desire for their children and London Kohanga Reo was established."

Kohanga Reo meets Saturday mornings (10.00am-12.00pm) during school term time. We meet on the 4th floor at NZ House, Haymarket, London. We have committed parents and teachers, and children learn te reo, waiata, kapahaka and traditional customs.
Lessons begin and end with karakia and children share some kai at the end of the lesson.

Kohanga Reo is a non-profit organisation. We ask for a £2 koha per family per session. Our main fund-raising event is the annual Hangi, which is held at the wharenui, Hinemihi, in West Clandon.
